The Life

Born in Wisconsin, Georgia O'Keeffe emerged in New York under the eye — and later as the wife — of the photographer and gallerist Alfred Stieglitz, who championed her as a leading American modernist. She painted the skyscrapers of Manhattan, then found her true country in the deserts of New Mexico, settling at Ghost Ranch among the bleached bones, adobe and vast skies of the Southwest. She worked into her nineties, an austere and singular figure in American art.

The Hand

O'Keeffe magnified her subjects — a single flower, a pelvic bone, a hill — until they crossed into abstraction, filling the canvas edge to edge. Her surfaces are smooth and almost breathless, with subtle, seamless gradations of colour that lend organic form a monumental, contemplative stillness.

The Legacy

She is the mother of American modernism, an artist who forged a wholly personal language owing nothing to Europe. Her vision of the American desert, and her independence as a woman artist, made her an enduring cultural icon.

The Market

Her Jimson Weed / White Flower No. 1 sold for US$44.4 million in 2014, then a record for any female artist at auction — a mark of her singular standing in twentieth-century art.

Commission a Georgia O'Keeffe masterwork.

Museum-grade Georgia O'Keeffe reproductions, made to order. ArtzFolio ∞ Infinity recreates the masterworks of Georgia O'Keeffe (1887–1986), the American master of Modernism, on archival, hand-finished canvas — numbered as strictly limited Heirloom editions and built to be inherited. Every commission reproduces that surface faithfully, at the size, frame and finish of your choosing, and ships across India with white-glove care.
